Tramshed Tech
Today we visited a startup incubator company called Tramshed Tech. The company helps provide work spaces and collaborative environments for startups from a variety of tech and media focuses. We toured the building and learned a lot about how startups operate and how Tramshed is helping those companies thrive. It really changed my understanding of startup companies and how in a workspace like Tramshed, startups can collaborate and work together for large projects. I also thought it was very interesting that they have a membership fee for people training for jobs.
After that, we then split off into our own groups to wander around Cardiff. Our group went over to Cardiff's indoor market to search for souvenirs and cheap eats. There, we found a really delicious Thai restaurant as well as some fresh fruits around the market to snack on. I really enjoyed the focus of local produce in the market as well as looking through all the vendors there. Then we went off to wander through the shopping district and found a little souvenir shop which housed the world's largest lovespoon. Welsh lovespoons are hand crafted spoons with symbols to signify love, fortune, and many other good wishes. They are traditionally given to someone you love to show them how much you love them. This was traditionally used since very few knew how to write long ago. We also saw the world's biggest love spoon which a man carved in just 6 weeks!
All in all, today was a great experience learning more about Welsh culture and the tech culture in Wales. The end of the day was really relaxed and tomorrow we focus on finishing our game projects!
