Photo Update

January 18, 2018

Hiya! It's Elisha, and while I was supposed to share my Sunday experience, I actually didn't have a very eventful day (Mostly Netflix and naps, If you haven't seen 'What Happened to Monday?', I highly recommend!). So instead...

There's been a lot of great exploring, learning, sight seeing, and laughter spread through this wonderful group to be in Cardiff with, and I'd like to share some photos of some great places and moments from the trip thus far. 🙂

To start, here's one of the many photos I'm sure you've seen of the river running through Cardiff right outside our hostel. One the left is the Principality Stadium home to lots of rugby. On the right, our hostel is nested in a dark blue building. It's truly amazing to wake up and look out the window to such a beautiful river and city.

In the heart of Cardiff lies a beautiful castle. It's origins have been dated back to almost 2000 years ago when the Romans first built a fort here. Parts of the original Roman wall are still intact and the castle has been re-purposed for centuries. One of the most surprising facts was discovering it was used as a shelter during air raids in WWII.
One of the castle's add-ons included a beatuiful home that was designed by one of the best architects of the time. This is a very vague distription but only because I don't want to relay incorrect info. Here's a pic of the 3d ceiling architecture for some perspective on just how detailed this place was!
Here's a pic of Bao and I outside the castle. I wish I would have captured a photo of the moat, but we're going to see one of the biggest castles in the UK on Sunday, so I'll save up for then.
It's obvious that beer is a huge part of the culture in the UK, and just to prove it, here's a really cool painting of "The Very Many Varieties of Beer" found in Tiny Rebel, a local brewery.
So finding ice cream over gelato became a very big endeavor for me on this trip. I am truly a huge ice cream fan and when I found Ice Cream Passion was only a half mile walk away, I couldn't (nor could Pete, Kathleen and both Andrews) resist. This is the ultimate shake. Snickers and Oreo flavors pictured.

Today, people discovered the intense game of Snooker. It is a pool table type game involving an alternating sinking a solid one color and a points color. It's a bit complicated for me to explain in this tiny caption. I highly recommend you look it up! But I couldn't resist snapping this shot of them 5 being so captivated. (Left to right: Pete, Bao, Justice, Scott, Anne)
Last but not least, here's a picture from the top floor of Cardiff Met in the building we've been studying in for the last week and a half. It is truly amazing to have the opportunity to travel and study somewhere new. I know personally I will gain a lot out of this experience technologically as well as culturally (which was Pete's goal, yay!)  Working on game development has been a real treat and I can't wait to see how this trip shapes everyone in the time to follow!

Hopefully, this has been interesting. We present our final game design work tomorrow so more is to come on that! Stay tuned...
