The morning started by visiting the most sustainable
building in the world, and maybe one of the most interesting buildings I’ve
seen with modern architecture. This building also happened to be Bloomberg UK’s
new building, of just a month. We started by getting a tour of this brand-new
building and every part of the building was unique and something I have never
seen in another building. After our tour we had a panel of several employees
working in some of the different areas of the company. It was interesting to
see how each part of the company worked together and the different backgrounds
each person had before coming to their current position, some not even going to
university and working various jobs, while another went to university and
studied a completely different subject.
After seeing this global tech company, we broke off for
lunch and wandered around the area for a while before meeting up again a taking
a self-guided tour of St Paul’s Cathedral. The buildings from this time period
always amazing how much work it put into not just building the structure but
also putting elaborate designs and stories into it as well. While in St Paul’s
we took a trip up to the top of the dome, which I very highly recommend but it
not for those who are extremely afraid of heights. The first level up leads to
the whispering gallery which gives a good vantage of the amazing floor work in
the cathedral. Then going up from there you reach the top of the main dome and
get a pretty good view of the city, but you can even go higher. Walking up
these stairs to the very top was nerve wracking, as they were old tight spiral
staircases that you could see through to the bottom of the floor, but getting
to the top of St Paul’s gave the most amazing views of the city.
After St Paul’s a small group went to the British Museum. This
museum is so massive it is impossible to see all of it without being there the
whole day. I was there for a little over two and a half hours and didn’t even
get to see half of the exhibits that were there.
