Final Weekend in Wales

A long and busy last three days in Wales was filled with adventure, sights, and new friends. Half the group went on a Saturday trip to Swansea. We took a trip to a museum where we learned more about the history of train travel and the maritime industry in Wales. We then wandered around old Swansea til we found the old market there. After a delicious lunch we walked to a ice cream place and had some cones/shakes. We then strolled down to the beach and explored the coastline for a bit before we had to catch the train home.

Upon coming home a group of us decided to go out and experience the wild Cardiff nightlife. We went to what was described by a student we met there as a “proper club”. After a wild night of dancing and making friends we wandered back to the hostel. A very quiet next Sunday of rest and we were ready for a big Monday travel to Salisbury and Stonehenge.

After a long train ride to Salisbury and nearly missing our tour bus we made it to Stonehenge. It was truely a swing experience for me. While there may have not been as much obvious stuff to do and observed it was very nice to see the subtleties of early civilization and how the site evolved with humanity. A quick trip to the Salisbury Cathedral to see the tallest spire in the UK and the Magna Carta filled by shopping in the downtown. After everyone gathered up their gift shop purchases we headed back to Cardiff exhausted.
