Bae Caerdydd
On Friday, 12 January we had the opportunity to take a field trip down to Cardiff Bay (Bae Caerdydd). We began our journey by touring the National Assembly where the government can make laws and discuss the important issues regarding the Welsh people. It is a beautiful building right by the water and is open every day for the people to come visit, tour, or watch a political discussion. Below is a picture of the building which was built to represent the tree of life. If the government makes good decisions the tree (Wales) will continue to prosper and grow, but if they make bad decisions... well... you know.
After visiting the National Assembly we were set free to explore the area around the Bay. Next to the National Assembly was a building called the Pierhead which was once a focal point of commerce in Wales when ships used to dock at the pier to register coal before taking it out to the rest of the world. Now it is used as a museum to show the history of Cardiff Bay and how it impacted the growth of Cardiff. At the end of the day we were all pretty tired from wandering about, but it was worth it to learn some of the rich history and how the government in Wales is run.
